- 2013 MAF team visit to research the needs of isolated communities and possible opportunities for MAF to serve, meeting with officials in Chin State. Offer to help conduct an airstrip survey with if Union Government permission is granted.
- 2014 With government permission granted, a comprehensive airstrip survey is conducted of Chin State, concluding that a flight service could have significant impact for geographically isolated communities. MAF successfully achieves Myanmar Company registration.
- 2016 The Lailenpi community in Chin State, requests a site survey by a civil engineering team and MAF for an airstrip. A successful survey is completed in February.
- 2017 The Vice President of Myanmar, with six Union Ministers, visits the proposed site for the Lailenpi airstrip in February and grants verbal permission for the community to proceed. In August MAF receives official government approval to construct the airstrip.
- 2018 In May MAF submits a Business Plan to the Union Government to start a flight operation in Myanmar. In September the final design for the Lailenpi airstrip is completed.
- 2019 In May a Ground-breaking Ceremony is attended by Union Government and Chin State Government officials and the community to mark the start of construction of the airstrip. In September the Vice President and Ministry of Transport and Communications meet with MAF representative to invite MAF to submit an application for an Air Operators Certificate and discuss the proposed Government Rural Aviation Division. In November, a Workshop on Rural Air Transport was held at Department of Civil Aviation in Yangon. By the end of December 33% of the airstrip construction is completed.
- 2020 By May 75% of construction is completed, and a weather station is installed at Lailenpi to collect data about local weather patterns. However, due to the global Covid-19 pandemic construction is halted due to an interruption in the supply chain. A second weather station is installed at Falam Surbung Airport, Chin State where MAF will operate a flight sub-base to serve surrounding areas.
- In July the Lailenpi township forms an Airstrip Environmental Planning Committee who organizes the planting of coffee, tea, macadamia, flowers, edible fruits, and soil conservation plants on 43 hectares around the airstrip. This will provide both environmental protection and support community livelihoods through the produce obtained. In August Ministry of Transport and Communications state that they agree in principle to MAF’s request to start a flight operation. In October, with the monsoon seasonal rains easing, construction restarts, with a plan to complete the airstrip by March 2021.
- 2021 In March, with 94% of the project complete, airstrip construction was halted due to the coming rainy season and an unexpected security crisis within the country. The airstrip remains in good condition with soil-stabilizing vegetation taking hold in the surrounding environment. MAF desires to complete the airstrip project when security within the region returns.
